Spider-Man (OpenSpideyPS1)

GTTeancum/SpideyPS1recomp

OpenSpideyPS1: a native Windows recompilation of the PlayStation Spider-Man, built with RecompOne. The console’s code is translated ahead of time into C# and runs against a shared runtime that implements the original console services, with modern rendering and higher-detail characters. The project’s two games (this one and Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro) are kept separate and share only the recompiler and runtime. On first launch, setup asks for your US BIN/CUE or ISO image and extracts the data. It supports costumes as mods: the 1.1 zip (September 29), about 190 MB, includes 92 external suits with per-suit attribution and metadata. The project warns that it is in active development: both games reach gameplay, but targeted tests do not replace full playthroughs. The repository includes a “dreamcast” folder with tools and manifests (about 42 MB of JSON) for carrying costumes over from the Dreamcast version, which it uses as a reference. 29 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.

You needYour own US copy of Spider-Man for PlayStation, as a BIN/CUE or ISO image. Plus 64-bit Windows; the executable is self-contained and needs no runtime installed.

SpiderMan2k1Fix

legluondunet/SpiderMan2k1Fix

An unofficial patch for the PC version of Spider-Man (Activision, 2001) that improves compatibility with modern Windows and with Linux through Wine. It is installed by copying winmm.dll and SpiderMan2k1Fix.dll next to SpideyPC.exe and doesn’t modify the executable: the code is applied in memory. It bypasses the CD check, offers borderless fullscreen with automatic widescreen 3D and an adjusted field of view, corrects the proportions of menus, videos, and HUD, caps the frame rate (30 by default), pauses the game when it loses focus, detects the keyboard layout, keeps its settings in an INI file, and takes PNG screenshots with F9. It also fixes crashes when switching windows, a crash on exit, and the crackling of some WAV sounds that the game read truncated. It only supports one specific SpideyPC.exe, identified by its SHA-256. Version 1.1.0 (October 27) follows 1.0.0 from October 25. Its author says it was developed with the help of ChatGPT.

You needYour own copy of the PC version of Spider-Man (2001) with the SpideyPC.exe whose SHA-256 is 0a11a49f3f63d4bb15650f322d654553fc47234b01885b852a058ff074689dea; other versions or modified copies are not supported. Plus Windows (tested on Windows 11) or Linux with Wine (WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b").
