smsggrecomp
mstan/smsggrecomp
A static Z80 recompiler for Master System and Game Gear, with its own runner modeling the VDP, SN76489 PSG, I/O and mapper. Its README says it is neither an emulator nor a hand-port, and that it is early (v0.0.3, October 18) with two games in bring-up. 43 of its 51 commits list Claude as a co-author.
Sonic Blast
mstan/SonicBlastGGRecomp
A static recompilation of Sonic Blast for Game Gear with smsggrecomp, the author’s own framework for Master System and Game Gear: the Z80 code is translated to C ahead of time and compiled to native code, while the runtime library simulates the VDP with the Game Gear palette and viewport, stereo SN76489 sound, the ports, and the Sega mapper; jumps the analysis can’t resolve go through a Z80 interpreter. Every release is a pre-release. The first, from June 23, only reached the title screen; 0.0.3 (October 18) enters, with assistance, all 15 acts as both Sonic and Knuckles without touching the interpreter, with a single one-frame difference in the ring icon, though an unassisted full playthrough remains unverified. You launch it from the command line with the ROM path, or by dragging the ROM onto Play.cmd. The download is for 64-bit Windows. 8 of its 13 commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own Sonic Blast ROM for Game Gear (World, which covers the US release: CRC32 031B9DA9, 1 MB). Plus 64-bit Windows.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (Game Gear)
cultofblue/mmpr-movie-gg2pc
A native Windows port of the Game Gear version, made by static recompilation: the game’s Z80 code is translated into C and compiled for x64, with a small runtime that recreates the console’s video chip, sound chip, controls, and bank mapper. According to its README the whole game runs as native code, with no interpreter, verified by full playthroughs to the ending, and the recompiled code is identical to a reference Z80 interpreter, with RAM, VRAM, palette, and every frame compared across more than 400,000 frames. It has save states in ten slots, screen filters (none, LCD, or CRT), fast-forward, an infinite-health toggle, keyboard and gamepad support, and full screen. Version 1.0.0 is from October 27; the API’s release listing shows no attached files. The recompiled code is generated on your PC and not uploaded.
You needYour own ROM of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie for the Game Gear (USA, Europe, Brazil) (En), with CRC32 B47C19E5, next to the executable. Windows; to build, Python 3, CMake, a C compiler, and SDL2.
