NHL ’94
Game: NHL '94 (Mega Drive / Genesis, 1993)
A hand-written C rewrite of NHL ’94 (Mega Drive/Genesis) for Linux, Windows, and macOS. According to its README, the game’s roughly 1,500 routines, with one C file per assembly module of the community’s byte-exact rebuild, have been checked against the original frame by frame; it emulates neither the 68000 nor the Z80 and uses the pulseman submodule for the VDP, PSG, and YM2612, with SDL2. It runs at 60 frames per second without the cartridge’s slowdown and adds rollback online play for two to four players, save states with rewind, custom rules, custom rosters of up to 32 teams, and the import of rosters from ROM hacks made on the 32-team template, which are exported as CSV and PNG. Version 0.3.6 is from October 22. All of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.
