OutRunners

Game: OutRunners (Arcade, 1992)

A native port for Windows, Linux, and macOS (plus Switch with Atmosphere, Android, and Anbernic handhelds) of Sega’s OutRunners arcade game (System Multi 32 board), built on its C decompilation, which is checked frame by frame against MAME in picture and sound. Two games come out of the same code: OutRunners Arcade, the arcade game as is with both cabinet screens, and OutRunners, the home version with a single screen, free play, an options menu, two players, local-network races of up to four devices, and modes such as Time Attack, with a ghost, or all 31 courses in one race. The repository contains no game data: on first launch it extracts the assets from your MAME game and keeps them. Version 1.1.0 was published on October 31. None of its last 100 commits list an AI as co-author.

You needYour own MAME “orunners” (World) set as a zip, kept beside the game or dropped on its window; the assets are extracted from it. The Switch build also needs a console with Atmosphere and your keys, and the Android build needs an APK signed with a key of yours.
