Railroad Tycoon (Rails)
Game: Railroad Tycoon (DOS, 1990)
Rails: an OCaml remake of Railroad Tycoon (1990), built on SDL2. You build railroads, manage trains, compete with AI rivals, and grow your empire across historical regions; docs/FEATURES.md lists what is implemented. It supports display zoom over the original 320x200, GLSL shaders (CRT, VGA at 1080p, and others), a pixel aspect ratio adjustment for rectangular pixels, saves, and debug options. Version 0.1.4 (October 11) provides packages for Windows, Linux (AppImage and tar.gz), and macOS (arm64). The repository includes .ogg music and sound-effect files and some extra graphics (the README doesn’t say where they come from).
You needThe data files from your own copy of Railroad Tycoon for DOS (*.PIC, *.PAN, and *.DTA), in the data folder next to the executable or via --data-dir. Plus Windows (x86-64), Linux (x86-64), or macOS.
