SegaSonic the Hedgehog
Game: SegaSonic the Hedgehog (Arcade, 1993)
A native port of Sega’s System 32 arcade game for Windows, Linux, and macOS, built from the decompilation of the game’s program to C (segasonic-decomp) and built for each system; it is not an emulator. A console version made for playing at home sits alongside the arcade one, both from the same program, with 16:9 widescreen, time attack, and a stage select. The author checks the arcade version with 98 scenarios (the attract mode, one- to three-player games, every stage, the ending, and the test mode) that run on the game and on the original program on MAME’s V60 core, and the two match frame by frame. Version 1.3.0 (October 29) provides packages for Windows x64, Linux x64, macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), and Anbernic H700 handhelds; with the assets made on your computer there are also builds for the Switch and Android.
You needYour own copy of the arcade ROM set: MAME’s sonic.zip (SegaSonic The Hedgehog, Japan, rev. C), 18 files, which the game checks by CRC32 and from which it extracts an asset pack (segasonic.assets) on first run that is yours and not to be shared. Plus Windows x64, Linux x64, or macOS.
