Tyrian 2000
Game: Tyrian 2000 (DOS, 1999)
An open-source port of the DOS game Tyrian, forked from OpenTyrian with the goal of replicating the Tyrian 2000 experience as closely as possible. It is a vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up with a story mode, one- and two-player arcade modes, and network play over UDP with NAT hole punching, tested with SDL_net, SDL2_net, and SDL3_net. It builds for a great many platforms besides the PC: its releases carry packages for Windows (MSVC and MinGW), macOS, Linux (.deb), DOS, Android, iOS, 3DS, PSP, PS Vita, Switch, and others, and the README includes ESP32 instructions. The latest release, 3.0.0-SDL3, is from January 28, 2025.
