Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (War1gus)
Game: Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (DOS, 1994)
War1gus: Warcraft: Orcs & Humans reimplemented on Stratagus, the free real-time strategy engine from the same team as Wargus. It uses the original game’s graphics and sounds, which it extracts from your copy on first launch, and adds the engine’s modern conveniences: modern mouse controls, named groups, larger group selection, more player factions in multiplayer games, multiple towns, and a map editor. The repository holds the extractor, the Lua scripts that recreate the game, shaders to change the look, and a few multiplayer maps. The latest stable release is 3.3.2 (August 10, 2022), and development builds are made from every commit; it kept getting fixes in 2026, the latest in June, for loading campaign saves and for multiplayer. On macOS its own extractor doesn’t work properly yet, and the data is extracted with a third-party script.
You needYour own copy of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans for DOS, on CD or floppy disks; extracting the data from the demo, the shareware release, or the Mac OS release isn’t fully supported yet. Plus Windows, Linux (packages for Ubuntu and Debian, openSUSE, and other distributions), or macOS.
