Blue Stinger

Game: Blue Stinger (Dreamcast, 1999)

A static recompilation of the Dreamcast version of Blue Stinger into a native Windows x64 executable in C++20: the game’s SH-4 code is translated instruction by instruction into C++ and the console’s subsystems (files, timing, controls, saves, movies, audio, and graphics) are replaced with native implementations, checked against the original game running in the Flycast emulator. It uses no BIOS and no SH-4 interpreter. The game runs on Windows from your disc, with native audio, Vulkan rendering by default (with a software renderer as fallback), and subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese or English, generated locally from the disc with AI transcription, translation, and review, provisionally. Its author puts progress at roughly 72% of the roadmap, which includes a remastered edition with widescreen and HD textures and a mod system, not yet started. Version 0.7.0, from October 24, ships the Builder, which builds the game on your PC. 86 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.

You needYour own copy of the Blue Stinger disc (CDI image, NTSC-U, T13001N V1.000). Windows x64; to build from source, Visual Studio 2022 or later (or Build Tools) with CMake and Ninja, or Clang.
