deSPIRIA
Game: deSPIRIA (Dreamcast, 2000)
A kit for playing the Dreamcast game deSPIRIA as a native Windows program, in English. It uses dream-recomp, an experimental Dreamcast static recompiler: the game’s SH-4 code is translated ahead of time into C++ and compiled, while the graphics and sound hardware is emulated and the console BIOS is replaced, so no BIOS is needed. The kit adds the fixes the game needs, its configuration, and a launcher; on first launch it downloads dream-recomp’s source and a portable compiler, and builds the game on your PC from your disc. The title screen, menus, the logo and opening movies with sound, and New Game into the opening story work, at full speed on a 15 W laptop; its author warns it isn’t a full playthrough and that there are rough edges. Saves go to a memory card file. Version 0.1.1 is from October 30. All 4 of its commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own copy of deSPIRIA (Japan, T14402M) dumped as a GDI image, with the translation team’s English patch already applied (using their patcher). 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a Vulkan-capable GPU, about 3 GB free, and an internet connection on first launch.
