James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod
Game: James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod (1991)
A native version of the Amiga classic for Windows, macOS, Linux and Steam Deck, Android, and PlayStation 5. The game’s 68000 code was translated into C++ with a recompiler of the project’s own that reads your disk image; the generated code is made on your machine and is not in the repository. For what the recompiler hasn’t translated yet it uses the Musashi 68000 emulator. The runtime reimplements the Amiga’s custom chips and adds true widescreen, smooth motion at your display’s refresh rate, picture filters, a model of the Amiga 500 or 1200 sound output filter, saves, level select, the game’s own cheats, and controller rumble. The README doesn’t say whether it can be finished. Version 1.0.4 (October 28) is the latest of five releases published between October 26 and October 28; the Windows zips weigh about 2.6 MB and don’t include the game.
You needYour own Amiga disk image of James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod: an .adf of the Kixx re-release or of the common cracked disks (for example Skid Row’s), packed as .adz or inside a .zip, or a WHDLoad install folder. The original Millennium release, raw-track (extended ADF) dumps of the copy-protected disk, and .dms and .ipf images don’t work yet. Android needs a controller; the PlayStation 5 needs a console that runs homebrew.
