Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam
Game: Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam (1994)
An unofficial native port of Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam (Philips CD-i, 1995) for Windows, made by static recompilation: the game’s 68000 code is translated ahead of time into C. A runtime of its own provides the CD-RTOS (OS-9) kernel, the CD file manager, the video decoder (with a Direct3D 11 presenter at any resolution), the ADPCM audio processor, and the Digital Video (FMV) cartridge, whose MPEG decoder plays the game’s music and animated cutscenes. The three program modules on the disc are fully translated; only code the game loads into memory at run time runs in the built-in interpreter. The build produces bodyslam.exe, with the original presentation, and bodyslam_hd.exe, with the Cartoon HD and HD+ upscalers and sprite interpolation at 60 frames per second; they share quicksaves. Among its known limitations, only NTSC timing is emulated, which is what the US disc uses. Version 1.0.0 was published on October 21. Its only commit lists Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own image of the Mutant Rampage: Bodyslam disc, as a .bin and .cue with raw 2352-byte sectors. The installer and the portable zip don’t include the disc; the installer asks for the image and checks it. Windows 10 or later; to build from source, Visual Studio 2022, CMake 3.19, and Python 3.8.
