Project Gotham Racing 2
Game: Project Gotham Racing 2 (Xbox, 2003)
An unofficial native port of the original Xbox version for Windows, with extended graphics options and other enhancements. The game’s x86 code is statically recompiled with Xbox XBE Recomp into a Windows executable, and the console’s graphics, sound, and system libraries are reimplemented (Direct3D 12 or 11, XAudio2, and SDL); it is not an emulator. It works with the European (PAL) and North American (NTSC) releases, including their hard-disk-patched variants; the Japanese release hasn’t been checked. The only published file is PGR2Launcher.exe, which builds the game on your PC from your disc, with no Visual Studio, Git, or administrator rights needed: the game’s code is never downloaded, only the tools and the project’s source. 1.0 came out on October 22 and 1.0.2 on October 23. 99 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own copy of Project Gotham Racing 2 for Xbox, European or North American, as an .iso image or a folder with the disc’s files. Plus 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a graphics card with Direct3D 12 or 11, about 15 GB free, and an internet connection to download about 1.4 GB of build tools.
