Project Gotham Racing
Game: Project Gotham Racing (Xbox, 2001)
An unofficial native port of the original Xbox version for Windows, with extended graphics options and other enhancements. The game’s x86 code is statically recompiled with Xbox XBE Recomp into a Windows executable, and the console’s graphics, sound, and system libraries are reimplemented (Direct3D 12 or 11, XAudio2, and SDL); it is not an emulator. It works with the European (PAL, version 5, title ID 4D530003) release; the others haven’t been checked. Version 1.0 (October 23) includes movies, menus, the Kudos Challenge, Quick Race, Arcade Race, Time Attack, saves, sound, and the radio, at 60 frames per second, with widescreen and ultrawide (the 3D view widens; menus and HUD stay 4:3), render scale from 25% to 200%, keyboard, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch controllers, and racing wheels. The only published file is PGR1Launcher.exe, which builds the game on your PC from your disc: the game’s code is never downloaded, only the tools and the project’s source. All 32 of its commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own copy of Project Gotham Racing for Xbox, European (PAL), as an .iso image or a folder with the disc’s files (default.xbe with SHA-1 4878c3bdbd44663b64ce64986b313e8c6b7f8917). Plus 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a graphics card with Direct3D 12 or 11, about 15 GB free, and an internet connection to download about 1.4 GB of build tools.
