Syphon Filter 2
Game: Syphon Filter 2 (PS1, 2000)
A static recompilation of the US release of Syphon Filter 2, both discs, built with psxrecomp: the resident executable runs as native x64 code on a runtime that reproduces the PlayStation hardware, and the streamed modules (overlays) not yet covered go through an interpreter, so some areas may run slower. According to its README, the full two-disc campaign and the disc change have been played and verified. It keeps the original’s logic, scripts, collision, AI, and 20 Hz world update, and doesn’t reach 60 fps: its author explains that without at least a partial decompilation, a coherent in-between frame can’t be rebuilt. As options, off by default, it has native 16:9 widescreen, PGXP geometry, and direct mouse camera control; the launcher allows two keys or mouse buttons per control, plus controllers and, since 0.2.0, local two-player games. 0.2.0 (September 23) brought a setup program for Windows, Linux, and macOS that asks for the BIOS and discs, verifies them, generates the code, and builds the game on your machine; on Linux and Intel macOS only startup has been checked, and on Apple silicon macOS only the build. Its README says it was developed with AI assistance, directed by its author.
You needYour own US Syphon Filter 2 discs, Disc 1 (SCUS-94451) and Disc 2 (SCUS-94492), as Redump CUE/BIN or CHD, and an SCPH-1001 BIOS dumped from your console (512 KiB, identified by its SHA-256). Plus Python 3; if CMake and Ninja are missing, setup downloads a portable pack.
