The Simpsons Wrestling
Game: The Simpsons Wrestling (PS1, 2001)
The Simpsons Wrestling Recompiled: a static recompilation of the North American release (SLUS-01227) as a native Windows and Linux program, built with psxrecomp and with the same author’s TRG Launcher, which asks for your disc image, checks that it’s the right one, and reads it where it is, without copying it. It adds 16:9 in matches with real extra picture (more of the arena and crowd at the sides, and the health bars and portraits at the edges), render resolution from 240p to 8K or your screen’s own, anti-aliasing, stable geometry without the PlayStation’s wobbling polygons, CRT, composite, or Trinitron filters with scanlines, and 60 fps in matches at the original game speed (the original manages 20 to 30), with an experimental 120 fps mode. By default it skips the intro and unlocks every wrestler, both circuits, and Bonus Match Up, both of which can be turned off, and it has fast loading, controllers picked up even when switched on mid-game, two players, button remapping, and rumble. The launcher checks GitHub for updates and installs them, keeping your settings and saves. Pausing a match in widescreen puts some labels back at their 4:3 positions, and the Linux build has only been tested under WSL. Its README states that the port was made almost entirely with Claude Code: the repository owner directed and tested the work, and the AI did the analysis, code, tools, and documentation. 1.0.0 came out on October 7.
You needYour own North American The Simpsons Wrestling disc image (SLUS-01227): a .cue with its .bin next to it. Plus 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, or 64-bit Linux from 2023 or later (glibc 2.38), and an OpenGL 3.3 graphics card.
