Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3
Game: Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (Game Boy, 1994)
Bigodão: WL SM3: a native Windows, Linux, and Android port made by static recompilation with gb-recompiled, which its author presents as a study project. It starts from the original cartridge with korxo’s DX 1.2 color patch, applied in memory without touching your ROM. Since 1.0.0 the game is drawn by the port itself instead of the emulated PPU (a full comparison with the emulated mode found zero differences), with 1x to 4x internal resolution and 16:9 widescreen on by default, showing more of the level at the sides. It supports mods as .o2r files: high-resolution tile and sprite packs, with tools to capture scenes, paint them, and pack them, and .ogg music in place of the Game Boy soundtrack, while sound effects still come from the original audio. On Windows it’s a single executable with no DLLs. Version 1.1.1 (October 20) brought a more readable launcher, blurred edges in the parts that aren’t widescreen, and experimental 120 fps.
