Forza Horizon 2 Extra Options

RokkuDayo/ForzaHorizon2_ExtraOptions

A tweaks mod for the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2 when it runs on PC through Azimuth or Mezcal, another translation layer. Its DLLs, placed next to Azimuth.exe or next to the game executable, check that executable and patch it in memory. It adds changing cars from the pause menu, autodrive to your GPS destination, a drift camera like Forza Horizon 4 to 6’s, field-of-view sliders for every camera, removable roofs, lights, turn signals, and hazards on every car, a category with every stock rim, an unrestricted photo mode, 4K liveries, a custom gamerpic, and a “mediapc” folder for replacing files without touching the originals. Most of it is set in the game’s own menus. By default it also skips the intro videos and Azimuth’s save checks, and grants all DLC and VIP status. Version 0.2.98 (October 17) works only with Azimuth 0.9.10. The author warns that fake installers using the mod’s name carry a keylogger. Its author states Codex was used to write the DLL, and that the research was done by hand.

You needYour own copy of the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2, running through Azimuth (0.2.98 needs 0.9.10) or Mezcal. On Linux, with Wine or Proton, add WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm.dll=n,b".

Forza Horizon 2

Azimuth: a wrapper that runs the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2 on Windows 10 and 11, and on Linux through Proton. It translates the console’s WinRT calls to Win32, and DirectX 11.X to desktop DirectX 12. It’s the first Xbox One entry in this catalog. It supports game version 1.0.0.64 and the Storm Island expansion, plus the Fast & Furious one as experimental. Its author publishes it as version 0.9 on itch.io, pay what you want and without source code, and warns that rough edges are to be expected.

You needYour own files from the Xbox One version (the folder with era.vbi, Mount, and EmbeddedXvd). It includes no game files and doesn’t decrypt anything.

Xbox 360 Experimental

Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox 360)

fabioap-cpu/Forza-Horizon-2-Recomp

An experimental static recompilation of the Xbox 360 version with ReXGlue, with the SDK vendored in the repository. It holds the project source, recompilation metadata, build configuration and the SDK, with no game data, Xbox system files, saves or compiled executables. The README itself says it is an early, unresolved work in progress and not a working build: on the tested Windows AMD64 system it boots and reaches the loading screen, but the main guest thread permanently stalls waiting on a kernel semaphore and the game never gets further; the root cause hasn’t been found. Two other reproducible crashes were fixed. Nothing past the loading screen has been tested. It has no published releases.

You needYour own copy of Forza Horizon 2 for Xbox 360 as an extracted game tree, with default.xex, XMediaFacade_default.xex and SpeechFacade_default.xex. Windows AMD64, Git, CMake 3.25 or newer, Ninja and Clang.

Questions

Can you play Forza Horizon 2 natively on PC?

Yes, though unfinished. The catalog has 1 recomp and 1 port, and one of them is already playable.

What do I need to play it?

Your own copy of Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox One). Recompendium only links projects that don’t distribute the game, and each entry says which version or region you need.
