Snowboard Kids: Recompiled, a static recompilation of the US release, built with N64Recomp and with RT64 as its renderer. It isn’t based on the same author’s decompilation, though it uses its headers and some functions for its patches. It runs at any frame rate (your monitor’s by default) without changing game speed, and at any aspect ratio, ultrawide included, with an option to keep the HUD at 16:9. It adds in-game settings menus you can use with mouse, controller, or keyboard, adjustable deadzone and Y-axis inversion, low input lag, and near-instant loading. It supports mods and texture packs, with a template and documentation for making them. There are builds for Windows, Linux (also as a Flatpak and for ARM64), and macOS. Split-screen multiplayer is planned. 1.0.4 came out on October 4 and the latest, 1.0.6, on October 13, making texture packs easier to create and fixing the training screen.

You needYour own US Snowboard Kids ROM for N64; if it isn’t a .z64 it’s converted automatically, and no other ROM is accepted. Plus a graphics card with Direct3D 12.0 (Shader Model 6), Vulkan 1.2, or Metal Argument Buffers Tier 2 (at least a GeForce GT 630, Radeon HD 7750, or Intel HD 510), a CPU with SSE4.1 on x86-64, and, on Windows, the Visual C++ Redistributable. On a Mac, Apple silicon or a 7th-gen Intel CPU with macOS 13 or later.

Snowboard Kids (boricuapab)

boricuapab/snowboardkids-recompiled

A native Windows and Linux port of Snowboard Kids (US version), made with N64Recomp and RT64. It has a launcher that asks for the ROM and remembers where it is, 2×, 4×, or 8× anti-aliasing, resolution scaling (2× by default, no Expansion Pak needed), the original 4:3 ratio, 16:9 widescreen or the window’s ratio, rendering targets of 60 fps, 120 fps, or the display’s refresh rate (with interpolation: the logic and audio keep their original speed), keyboard and controller remapping, Controller Pak, and optional native mods, downloaded from a separate repository. Version 1.1.0 (September 27) is the latest of 2 releases, with zips of about 16 MB for Windows and 6 MB for Linux. The repository contains no ROM, extracted assets, or texture packs.

You needYour own unmodified Snowboard Kids (USA) ROM (SHA-1 1583bacc9046a360df8ea4d536942155247e154c; the launcher accepts .z64, .v64, and .n64). 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 with an SSE4.1 CPU, a Direct3D 12 GPU, and the Visual C++ 2015–2022 runtime; or x86-64 Linux with SSE4.1 and Vulkan.

Snowboard Kids (HikariLucy)

HikariLucy/SnowboardKids-Recomp

A native recompilation of Snowboard Kids (US version) with N64Recomp, RT64, RecompFrontend, and N64ModernRuntime, in public beta for Linux x86_64 and Windows x86_64. According to the README, real play sessions validated a full race from start to finish, results, and the next race, the game’s official save, quick save states (F5 and F8), keyboard play, physical controller play with rumble, controller remapping, and Controller Pak persistence. The game modules are generated locally from your ROM and live outside the installation directory. Version 0.9.0-beta.1 (September 29) has zips of 8.4 MB for Linux and 16.9 MB for Windows. 50 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.
