Unofficial Crusader Patch 3

UnofficialCrusaderPatch/UnofficialCrusaderPatch

Unofficial Crusader Patch 3 (UCP3): an unofficial patch for Stronghold Crusader by Firefly Studios; it’s a framework for applying community bug fixes, unit rebalancing, and quality-of-life improvements, and for adding new content, such as maps and AI. It’s installed with a graphical program, UCP3-GUI (1.0.14, from January 1, 2026, for Windows 10 or later, and .deb and AppImage packages for Linux), which installs the framework, downloads extensions from a store, and activates them in priority order: those higher in the list override the ones below when they configure the same thing. The installation includes no Firefly files: it edits the game’s own or adds community-made files. This repository is the entry point (README, translated news, and help with problems); the code lives in other repositories of the organization, such as UCP3-GUI. Only versions 1.41 and 1.41.1 of the game are officially supported; the team isn’t developing a UCP for the Definitive Edition and says there won’t be one if the full game stays just as hard to mod. The previous version, UCP2, lives in another repository.

You needYour own copy of Stronghold Crusader (Steam’s Stronghold Crusader HD, or any version that updates to 1.41 with Firefly’s free patch); official support is only for versions 1.41 and 1.41.1 in Latin languages. Windows 10 or later, with WebView2 for the interface and the Visual C++ x86 runtime; there is also an interface for Linux.

Stronghold Crusader (OpenSHC)

sourcehold/OpenSHC

OpenSHC: an open-source reimplementation of Stronghold Crusader 1 that builds as a DLL loaded when the game starts: functions that have a functionally identical reimplementation are hooked so that the new versions run instead of the originals. It advances step by step toward an identical reimplementation, with tools that track progress and a tutorial for contributors; modding the game is for now beyond its scope, though the project cites it as a motivation. It requires the game at version 1.41 in a Latin-script language (English, German…), preferably from Steam or GOG. The only published release, “latest-sarif” (updated September 27), is not a game: it offers starter .cpp files and a SARIF file for working with Ghidra, generated from the game’s executable (about 4 and 3 MB). 38 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.

You needYour own copy of Stronghold Crusader 1 version 1.41, in a Latin-script language, from Steam or GOG. To build it, CMake 3.24 or later, Python 3, and clang-format 22 or later; there is no prebuilt version.
