The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (sp00nznet)

sp00nznet/LinksAwakening

A static recompilation of Link’s Awakening DX for Game Boy Color into a native Windows program, built with gb-recompiled (with the author’s fork’s changes): the ROM’s code is translated to C, with a small interpreter for the few jumps the recompiler can’t resolve ahead of time. The CPU and memory banking, the graphics with their color palettes, sound, battery saves and save states, and keyboard and controller with rebindable controls all work. According to its README, it plays from boot through the dungeons; it’s single-player only, and the four-player co-op mode lives in a separate repository, la-mp. 0.1.0 came out on October 21 with a Windows installer that downloads the source, installs MSYS2 if it’s missing, and builds the game from your ROM (5 to 15 minutes the first time). It’s a different project from LADXHD, the remake of the same game already in the catalog. All 17 of its commits list Claude as a co-author.

LADXHD Updated

Maintained fork of LADXHD, the high-definition remake of Link's Awakening DX (Game Boy Color) that was hit by a copyright claim in 2023. It fixes and expands on the original remake’s ideas until it becomes its own thing, with builds for Windows (DX11/OpenGL), Linux, macOS, and Android, plus its own mod system. It lives on GitLab precisely because the GitHub repository was taken down.

You needThe assets from the original LADXHD v1.0.0 release. The repository ships nothing copyrighted, and it includes tooling to migrate your files to the newer version.
