Dungeon Keeper 2 (OpenKeeper)

Game: Dungeon Keeper 2 → (Windows, 1999)

OpenKeeper: an open-source, cross-platform remake of Dungeon Keeper 2 and its engine, written in Java with jMonkeyEngine. Its goal is to reimplement the whole game, version 1.7 with the three bonus packs, with few or no changes and using the original assets, so you need the game to play; later on it could get fan-made graphics, which would allow a standalone version, and new features. It includes a converter that turns the assets from your install into the engine’s format. It has been in development since 2014 and has no stable releases: it publishes a development build that is updated as changes come in, the latest on October 20, and it can also be run from source with Gradle. Since September it has added a minimap, a full-screen map, ceilings, visual effects, the level-won movies, and an in-game options menu. Two of its last 100 commits, from September, list Claude as a co-author.

You needYour own installed copy of Dungeon Keeper 2; the project targets version 1.7 with the three bonus packs. Plus, to run it from source, the Java JDK 25 and an internet connection; Arch Linux has an AUR package.
