Futurama
Game: Futurama (Xbox, 2003)
A native Windows port of Futurama (original Xbox, 2003) in which the game’s code was rewritten in C++ function by function from the machine code of the Xbox version, with “// orig:” comments pointing back to the original. It is neither an automatic translation of the executable nor a remake: the disc is only read for the models, textures, sounds, music, movies, level scripts, text, and some data tables inside default.xbe, and the Xbox’s audio DSP programs run on a tiny built-in emulation. It uses Direct3D 11, XAudio2, and an Xbox controller or keyboard. The aim is 1:1 fidelity: the README says the 701 functions the tests reach match the original, backed by almost 4,000 object tests, 60 level tests, and 38 rendering tests, and that one automated run goes from the start of level 1-1 into level 1-2; the final picture and sound have not been compared with a real Xbox. The author says it took about two weeks (October 12 to 25) with Claude Opus 5.5. Version 0.1.0 (October 25) is the only release; both of its commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own copy of Futurama for the original Xbox, NTSC-U, as a disc image (.iso) or with the extracted files; the first time the program asks for the .iso or the default.xbe. 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
