Mario Strikers Charged
Game: Mario Strikers Charged (Wii, 2007)
Recharged: a native port for Windows, Linux, Steam Deck, and macOS (Apple silicon and Intel) built on mscharged-decomp, the same author’s decompilation, whose code produces the same machine code as the retail game when built with the original Wii compiler. It’s neither an emulator nor a recompilation of the PowerPC binary: that code is compiled for PC with several hundred reviewed patches that only adapt it to a modern compiler and to 64-bit, and Recharged supplies what the Wii used to: graphics go through Aurora and Dawn on Vulkan, DirectX 12, or Metal, the DSP audio is processed natively, and the disc is read straight from the image. Every offline mode is there, with up to four players in any mix of keyboard and mouse, gamepads (with gyro as the pointer), and real Wii Remotes over Bluetooth or a DolphinBar. It renders 3D at the window’s resolution, in 16:9 or 4:3 with an optional wider view for wider screens, with MSAA, FXAA, or SSAA, and runs at 60, 120, or 144 fps, your monitor’s refresh rate, or uncapped without changing game speed; it loads Dolphin HD texture packs. It fixes four bugs of the original and has optional tweaks, all off by default except one that settles loose-ball contests fairly: skip the intro, fast menus, no Mega Strikes, unlock everything, CPU vs. CPU, mirror matches, and robot goalies, among others. A launcher checks your image, keeps every setting in one place, and updates the program. Online play isn’t in the published releases yet: a 1.1.0 test build (October 22) enables the game’s original online code. The latest release is 1.0.14 (October 21).
You needYour own copy of Mario Strikers Charged for Wii as an .iso, .rvz, or .wbfs image: the US release (R4QE01, revision 1) or the European one, Mario Strikers Charged Football (R4QP01, revision 1 or 2); the Japanese and Korean releases don’t work yet. The optional Super Team also needs your Super Mario Strikers image for GameCube. Plus 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, x86-64 Linux (the regular package is built on Ubuntu 26.04; the Steam Deck one works on older distributions), SteamOS 3.7 or later, or macOS on Apple silicon or Intel (macOS 15 or later), and a graphics card with Vulkan, DirectX 12, or Metal.
