Master of Magic
Game: Master of Magic (DOS, 1994)
ReMoM: Master of Magic (SimTex, 1994-95) rebuilt from the original executables, which were disassembled, reassembled, and translated to C. It starts from version 1.31 and aims to give the community working source code to expand the SimTex universe. It builds with CMake and uses SDL2 and SDL2_mixer (SDL3 is optional; on Windows there is also a native Win32 variant with no sound). The published releases are engine-only, with no game data: there are builds for Windows (.exe installer and .zip) and Linux (.deb, AppImage, .zip, and .tar.gz), and the README also describes an unsigned .zip for macOS. The latest, 0.0.8, is from July 31. The project is coordinated in the reverse-engineering channel of the “Master of Magic - Fans” Discord server. Two of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author. The repository includes, in doc/, disassemblies of SimTex executables and other material (about 54 MB).
You needYour own copy of Master of Magic 1.31 for DOS: all the .LBX files and CONFIG.MOM, in the same folder as the executable. Plus Windows, Linux, or macOS.
