MDK
Game: MDK (Windows, 1997)
A port of MDK to C# and SDL3 based on reverse engineering of the data files and of the MDKD3D.EXE executable; it is the successor to an earlier Godot port (mdk-godot) and reuses its work. Instead of relying on another engine’s renderer and physics, it draws and collides like the original: Kurt moves through the arenas’ BSP trees with the same box sweeps. It includes the whole game (every level, the fall before it and the stream after it, rides, menus, briefings and statistics, saves, and the end movies) and keeps the original look pixel-exact, with an optional enhanced look: filtered textures, sunlight and shadows outdoors, dynamic lights, ambient occlusion, glow, haze, and anti-aliasing. It adds stereoscopic 3D in several formats, a VR viewer for a phone in a Cardboard-style viewer or for PC VR glasses, gamepads, frame interpolation above 60 Hz, mods (textures, interface, fonts, and glTF models), and optional HD textures that it upscales on your own GPU with Real-ESRGAN from your copy, without distributing anything upscaled. 1.2.0 is from October 23. 88 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own PC copy of MDK (for example from GOG or Steam, or the CD): the port contains no levels, textures, models, sounds, music, or videos and reads them from the installation at run time. Plus Windows (x64), Linux (x64 or ARM64, such as a Raspberry Pi 5), macOS on Apple silicon, or Android.
