Castlevania Chronicles
Game: Castlevania Chronicles (PS1, 2001)
A native Windows, macOS (Apple silicon), and Linux port of the US PlayStation release (SLUS-01384), built with RecompOne, which translates the game’s MIPS code to C#, with the project’s own patches on top of its runtime. A launcher asks for your disc image, remembers it, and prepares the game code on first launch; the released builds include no disc or game data. F1 opens a menu to rebind keyboard and controller and to turn on cheats (invincibility, plus infinite health, hearts, or lives), which start off every session; falls and instant deaths still apply. The illustration gallery and the interview work, and you can import a raw 128 KB memory card. Widescreen is experimental and off by default: corrupted images and objects popping in and out at the side margins have been reported. All eight stages are registered, but a full playthrough hasn’t been validated yet, and a sound bug when defeating a boss and collecting the orb is still open. Version 0.3.10 (October 12) added automatic launcher updates.
You needYour own US Castlevania Chronicles disc image (SLUS-01384), as a .cue with its .bin files or as a .chd. There are builds for x64 Windows, Apple silicon macOS, and x64 Linux; all three include the .NET runtime. Linux needs glibc, OpenGL drivers, and GTK 3.
