Jet Set Radio Future (spriteice)
Game: Jet Set Radio Future → (Xbox, 2002)
A fork of JuMatt’s JSRF Unleashed that statically recompiles the game’s code to C and builds it as a native program for Linux and Windows, aiming to add features and bug fixes with a focus on compatibility and performance on those two platforms. The Xbox hardware (the NV2A graphics chip, the MCPX audio chip, and the kernel) is emulated using the xboxrecomp toolkit and xemu’s hardware models. It adds an in-game menu (F1, or Back on a controller), a free camera on the right stick, MSAA alongside SMAA, anisotropic filtering, smoother frame pacing, and a portable mode; from JuMatt come resolution scaling from 1× to 4×, 16:9 in gameplay, and SMAA. It is playable but early and has not been played from start to finish; Linux is the main platform. Beta 1.2 (October 29) is the latest release, with Linux and Windows packages. The README states that all of its additions to the upstream code are written by AI; 85 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own copy of Jet Set Radio Future, the standalone US (NTSC-U) disc, as a folder with default.xbe or a disc image (XISO or full disc image) that the program unpacks once; other versions do not work. x86_64 Linux (SteamOS, Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, and most modern distributions) or 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
