The Sims 2
Game: The Sims 2 → (GameCube, 2005)
An unofficial native port of the original Xbox version of The Sims 2 (USA), produced by statically recompiling the x86 XBE with the XboxXBERecomp SDK. According to the README it reaches live gameplay on Windows and Linux: it plays the startup movies, reaches the title screen and main menu, and enters live gameplay on a lot; on Linux (Vulkan) it reaches the title and a 3D neighborhood scene. It adds a settings panel (F1) and a frame-time graph (F2), and replaces the engine’s frame step so the game keeps its real speed at any frame rate. The author has not yet published frame-rate or resolution measurements. Version 0.2.0 (October 20) includes Windows and Linux packages.
You needYour own copy of The Sims 2 for the original Xbox, USA, as a disc image (whole-disc dump or xiso) or with the extracted files (default.xbe with its DATA and movies folders), in the assets folder. It only runs the XBE it was recompiled from (USA retail, SHA-1 starting with 16f9e41c). 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 with Direct3D 12, or Linux with Vulkan.
