The Sims
Game: The Sims (Xbox, 2003)
A native port of The Sims for the original Xbox (USA) to Linux and Windows, by static recompilation of the game’s executable on top of the XboxXBERecomp runtime: Vulkan and SDL3 on Linux, Direct3D 12 and XAudio2 on Windows, with no Wine and no emulator. According to the README it boots from the disc image, plays its intro movies, and reaches its menus, Create a Sim, and a playable household in live mode (17 of 17 runs), at about 60 frames per second. It includes a settings panel (F1) and a performance panel (F2), keyboard and mouse or gamepad support, and game speed is real time at any frame rate. It is the fourth Maxis console title ported with this framework and the first on XDK 5233, for which the project made its own signature set. Full-screen movies are cropped by 24 rows and ultrawide widening has not been analyzed. Version 0.2.0 (October 21) is the latest.
You needYour own copy of The Sims for the original Xbox, USA, as an .iso image in the assets folder or with the disc’s files extracted there. Windows with Direct3D 12 or Linux with Vulkan (clang, cmake, and ninja to build it).
