Urban Reign
Game: Urban Reign (PS2, 2005)
A native Windows port of the US PS2 release (SLUS-21209), made by static recompilation with PS2Recomp: the executable’s 9,878 functions are translated to C++, the IOP runs the game’s original modules on an interpreter, and the picture is drawn by PCSX2’s GS renderer with Direct3D 11. It builds on the runtime of LightVelox’s Shadow of the Colossus port and takes its video decoder from the Ace Combat 5 one. According to its author, fights and story mode work, with sound, movies, and a PCSX2-compatible memory card. It runs at 60 fps, eight fighters on screen included, with 1x–8x internal resolution, FXAA, sharpening, TV shaders, HD texture packs in PCSX2’s format, and the game’s own hidden widescreen mode (16:9, with the camera corrected), on by default. It supports controllers with rumble and a multitap for up to eight players, save states, .pnach patches, and DLL mods with their own kit; it includes CoopTool, which allows up to eight humans in multiplayer and Free Mode missions for four. A launcher asks for your disc image and starts the game. Its documentation indicates it was made with the help of Claude. Version 1.3.0 came out on October 13.
You needYour own US Urban Reign PS2 disc image (SLUS-21209) as an .iso. Plus 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a DirectX 11 graphics card, a CPU with SSE4.1, and the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime for the launcher (already in Windows 11). The HD texture pack, if you want it, is downloaded separately.
