Wild 9
Game: Wild 9 (PS1, 1998)
A native Windows, Linux, and macOS port of the NTSC-U PlayStation version (SLUS-00425), made by static recompilation: the game’s MIPS R3000A executable is translated to C, which is linked against a psxrecomp and recomp-ui runtime. The release downloads are product builds: the game’s already recompiled code is built into the executable, with no setup wizard or compiler, and you only point it at the .cue image of your disc. It embeds OpenBIOS, so no PlayStation BIOS is needed, though one can be used. It offers widescreen, perspective-correct geometry and textures (PGXP), frame blending up to 60, 120, 144, or 165 fps while keeping the 59.94 Hz simulation, video skipping, a choice of five languages, a mod that locks held objects or enemies overhead, and a mod system. Version 0.1.8 is from October 25.
