Wipeout XL
Game: Wipeout XL (PS1, 1996)
Wipeout XL Recompiled: an unofficial psxrecomp project for the US release (SCUS-94351) of the game known in Europe as Wipeout 2097. Each download is a setup kit: a wizard can fetch CMake, Ninja, and Clang, generates the game code from your disc, and compiles it on your machine, with the free OpenBIOS. There are kits for Windows 10 and 11, x64 Linux, and macOS 15 (Intel and Apple Silicon); racing and controllers have been tested on Windows, the author has tested the Linux build on Steam Deck, and on macOS only the build and launcher have been checked. The controller always emulates a NeGcon, with a configurable dual-stick preset: analog steering and throttle, with pitch and air brakes on the right stick. The visual mods, off by default, add 16:9 with OpenGL (since 0.1.1, from October 20, with an option to move the race HUD out to the edges), longer draw distance for the track and the enemy ships, and CRT filters inspired by JVC and Sony Trinitron TVs. The default renderer is OpenGL at 4x internal resolution. Netplay isn’t enabled.
You needYour own US Wipeout XL disc image (SCUS-94351) in Redump style: the .cue and all 12 .bin tracks (track 01 MD5: bee4ab5e4835235ccf6f16bc8caea5e6). Other regions and revisions aren’t supported. Plus Python 3.11 or later and room for the disc and a local build, on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, x64 Linux, or macOS 15.
