Battle Arena Toshinden (mstan)

mstan/BattleArenaToshindenRecomp

A static recompilation of Battle Arena Toshinden (US version, SCUS-94200) with psxrecomp. It goes through the intro and character select into combat; its author believes it’s stable despite being an early release. It comes with optional mods: fixed 16:9 or adaptive widescreen up to 32:9, with the health gauges extended to the edges; frame blending to present at 60–240 Hz without changing game timing; “Extra Roster”, which adds Gaia and Sho as selectable fighters; and one that lets you perform desperation moves at any health. It has two-player rollback netplay, through online rooms or over LAN or direct IP, and the Gaia and Sho mod also works online. It uses OpenBIOS. The latest release is 0.1.3 (September 8), for Windows and Linux. 2 of its 22 commits list Claude as a co-author, and the Gaia and Sho portraits were made with an image-generation tool.

You needYour own Battle Arena Toshinden disc image (PS1, US version, SCUS-94200) as BIN/CUE, with all 14 tracks next to the .cue for the CD music. A console BIOS is optional. 64-bit Windows or Linux with glibc 2.38 or newer (such as Ubuntu 24.04). For netplay, both players need the same release and the same disc image.

PS1 Experimental

Battle Arena Toshinden (NJH-1001)

NJH-1001/BATRecomp

BATRecomp: a PSXRecomp compatibility project for Battle Arena Toshinden (USA). Releases are setup kits that don’t include the game: you supply your disc, and the wizard generates and compiles the playable executable on your PC, using OpenBIOS instead of a Sony BIOS. There are kits for Windows, Linux, and macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel). It uses controllers through SDL3 with the pad locked to digital mode, and offers optional display mods: an experimental 16:9 wider view, which the README says passed a playtest, and a CRT mode with JVC- and Trinitron-inspired profiles. Version 0.1.0 (September 7) is the only release.

You needYour own US disc of Battle Arena Toshinden as a CUE plus its 14 BIN tracks (catalog ID SCUS-94003; data track 01 is 14662368 bytes, MD5 70b362b3b09d0a3c3999ce9f055620e6, SHA-1 cb03e66d2a5e68f402f9c64741a94c02ca78d4c5); other regions and revisions are not supported. Plus Python 3.11 or later and a CMake, Ninja, and Clang toolchain, which the wizard can download. Windows 10 or 11, x86-64 Linux, or macOS 15 or later.
