MediEvil (PS1)
BlackLabelHQ/MediEvilRecomp
MediEvilRecomp: a static recompilation of the US PS1 release of MediEvil, made with RecompOne by BlackLabelHQ, the same team behind the Symphony of the Night recomp. It also drew on the game’s decompilation to name functions and write patches. There are Windows, macOS, and Linux builds, which need the .NET 10 runtime. It’s an open beta, and its authors warn of possible game-breaking bugs, so save often.
You needYour own copy of the North American PS1 release, as bin/cue or CHD.
MediEvil (Leproide ESP)
Leproide/MediEvilRecomp-ESP
A static recompilation of the Spanish PAL release of MediEvil (SCES-01495) for PC, with widescreen and improved rendering. It starts from MediEvilRecomp-ITA (Leproide’s Italian PAL version), itself a fork of BlackLabelHQ/MediEvilRecomp; all the base work is theirs. It ports to the Spanish version, recalculating the addresses, the PAL fixes already made for the Italian one (CD callbacks, movie playback, iris fade, the 256-line PAL screen, and XA voices), so a single copy of the code serves both versions. It is in beta, and the README warns there may be serious bugs. v1.2-Stable (October 25) has a Windows zip, and the repository includes Linux scripts.
You needYour own original copy of MediEvil Spanish PAL (SCES-01495), from which to make a clean bin/cue dump (the LEEME in the disc folder gives the file names). Plus a GPU with at least OpenGL 2.1 and, to build it, the .NET 10 SDK.
⑂ Fork of BlackLabelHQ/MediEvilRecomp
MediEvil (Leproide ITA)
Leproide/MediEvilRecomp-ITA
A static recompilation of the Italian PAL release of MediEvil (SCES-01494) for PC, forked from BlackLabelHQ/MediEvilRecomp, which recompiles the US version; the base work (recompilation, rendering and widescreen patches, RecompOne runtime) is BlackLabelHQ’s. This fork translates the configuration, the function maps (boot, EXE, and 26 overlays), and the C# patches to the PAL version (addresses, $gp offsets, 50 Hz constants, and 256 lines), and fixes the CD callbacks, movies that were skipped after a second, and the iris fade in widescreen. It is in beta, and the README warns there may be serious bugs. v1.0-Stable (October 25) has zips for Windows and Linux. Unlike the original project, it accepts AI-written contributions, and the README says the PAL port itself was made with the help of an AI tool.
You needYour own original copy of MediEvil Italian PAL (SCES-01494), from which to make a clean bin/cue dump (the README in the disc folder gives the file names). Plus a GPU with at least OpenGL 2.1 and, to build it, the .NET 10 SDK.
