Silent Hill

shdecompilations/silent-hill-decomp

Work-in-progress decompilation of the US 1.1 PS1 release, compiling to a binary identical to the original. Its README puts two things in writing that belong here. First: this project won’t produce a port, to PC or anything else, and the codebase isn’t ready for one because of incomplete documentation and constant reorganization. Second: the decompilation is human-driven, with no AI-generated code, reversed by hand by several contributors over years; forks may use AI to port it, but this project doesn’t.

⑂ Fork of SlickAmogus/silent-hill-decomp

Silent Hill (Matt122Shenk)

Matt122Shenk/silent-hill-pc-enhanced

An unofficial fork of SlickAmogus’s native PC port of Silent Hill, built on the PlayStation decompilation of Silent Hill; it is neither an emulator nor a static recompilation. It adds a Horde Mode (wave survival with a reward shop between waves), weapon, fear, and flashlight immersion, ammo and health HUDs, enemy health bars, independent difficulty settings, D-pad weapon selection, a navigable pause menu, swappable weapon and interface sounds, and more. It starts from the original’s crossplatform-beta tag, and launcher updates are disabled so they can’t overwrite these changes. It inherits a README saying the game can be completed from start to finish, with high resolutions, widescreen, uncapped FPS, and a mod manager. Version 2026.10.23 (October 23) is a Windows zip of about 29 MB. 93 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author, and its README states that development is heavily AI-assisted.

You needYour own Silent Hill PlayStation disc image in .bin format, in the gamedata folder (the README suggests “Silent Hill (USA).bin”; building from source asks for the US one, SLUS-00707). The launcher detects the region and supports US, PAL (English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish), and NTSC-J discs. Windows is the main target; the Linux and macOS builds are work in progress and on Linux wine is recommended.
