Skate 3 (skate3recomp)
mchughalex/skate3recomp
Playable native port of Skate 3 for Windows, Linux, and macOS (v1.0.4): about 165 fps at 4K on an RTX 4090. It supersedes portingpete’s earlier attempt.
You needYour own Skate 3 ISO (Xbox 360). The game downloads Title Update 3 by itself and checks it before using it. DLC is optional and comes from your own copy.
Skate 3 (Skate 3 Rust Engine)
SK8-ENGINE/skate-3-rust-engine
A reimplementation of Skate 3 in Rust on the Bevy engine, built from reverse engineering the Xbox 360 version. It rests on more than two years of work by dumbad, who studied the game’s file formats, animations, and systems and built tools for maps, meshes, collision, challenges, and DLC; Chasm then worked on a recompilation and a custom renderer before moving to this rewrite. It has skating, tricks, grinds, off-board movement, difficulty settings, and custom maps in the .skate format, with a Lua modding API, and its sound is a native port of the game’s audio system. Setup converts the skater, animations, and every disc map from your copy, then starts in University; maps can be switched without restarting. It’s played with a controller and has a built-in updater. GitHub only has test builds, the latest being build 49 (October 9), and the project itself notes that not every system behaves exactly like the original yet. Its README states that AI coding tools were used to write this rewrite, and eight of its commits list Cursor as a co-author.
You needYour own copy of Skate 3 for Xbox 360, as an ISO or an extracted folder with its default.xex; converting the ISO needs an internet connection, since it downloads extract-xiso from GitHub, and the first conversion can take a while. Plus 64-bit Windows and an SDL3-compatible controller (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or generic); it can’t be played without one.

Skate 3 (dougieprishpreed)
dougieprishpreed/skate3recomp-plus
An extended version of mchughalex’s Skate 3 recompilation for Windows, Linux and macOS, with 29 commits of its own ahead. It adds New San Vanelona, Skate 2’s city, reachable from the game’s locations menu, with 25 spawn locations, distant backdrop, skybox, clouds, water, animated vegetation, neon signs, reflective glass, original cars and peds, DLC maps and a night mode. It also fixes native renderer problems that affect every map (Hall of Meat bones, motion blur, vignette, shadows, hair, tattoos, traffic lights) and adds an imgui interface (RB+Start or Esc) with options such as night mode, unlocked ragdoll, no fall damage and walking out of bounds. Vulkan with the native renderer is the default and has only been tested on Windows; the emulated renderer is broken in New San Vanelona. v0.2e (October 25) has zips for Windows, Linux and macOS. 9 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own copy of Skate 3 for Xbox 360 as an ISO, chosen from the launcher; DLC is optional and comes from your own copy. Windows (the most tested), Linux or macOS on Apple silicon.
