Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (3SX)

Game: Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike → (PS2, 2004)

3SX: a native port of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, a continuation of 3s-decomp, the matching decompilation of the PS2 version. It’s neither a recomp nor emulation: it’s C code running directly on your machine, with SDL3. It aims to be the ultimate version of 3rd Strike, with first-class support for Windows, macOS, and Linux, rollback netcode through GekkoNet, and an option to restore the arcade balance that the PS2 version changed (still in development and unstable). You can set fullscreen, how the internal 384×224 buffer is scaled (sharp pixels, integer, or square pixels for CRTs), a scanline filter, and drawing the characters in front of the HUD, as in Street Fighter IV. The goals for 1.0 are a stable PC experience, easy online play, automatic updates, and the arcade ROM as the only dependency. In October it kept restoring arcade behavior and fixing training mode and CPU matches. Right now there are no releases on GitHub, so you have to build it. The repository includes data tables taken from the game, written as C code, among them those of its sound system (about 2.5 MB).

You needYour own copy of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike or Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for PS2: the startup wizard asks for it, or you copy THIRD/SF33RD.AFS from the disc into the resources folder by hand. Arcade balance also needs the arcade ROM, sfiii3nr1.zip. Plus Windows, macOS, or Linux.
