40 Winks (Faderz48)
Game: 40 Winks → (N64, 1999)
An experimental native Linux and Windows port of the Nintendo 64 version of 40 Winks, made with N64Recomp, N64ModernRuntime, and RT64. According to the README it reaches normal gameplay and supports menus, cutscenes, persistent Controller Pak saves, Xbox and SDL controllers, keyboard, two-player split screen, widescreen modes, resolution scaling, and an F1 debug menu with a level selector. The repository contains no ROM, game assets, disassembly, or recompiled game functions: everything is generated on your PC. The Windows installer (71.7 MB) and the Linux AppImage (about 300 KB) build themselves on first run: they ask for and verify the ROM, download their own tools and dependencies, and generate the game locally. Version 0.1.7-alpha (August 15) is the latest of 8 releases.
You needYour own clean US 40 Winks ROM, big-endian .z64 (SHA-256 057232ef7618e25f5645df50d3cd45f08cb5a2cccb3e2fdf48faa8755c4ddb1a). The Windows installer downloads its own tools (Git, Python, CMake, Ninja, and LLVM-MinGW), so nothing needs to be preinstalled; on Linux, the first build needs the development packages listed in the README and an internet connection.
