Perfect Dark (N64)

Game: Perfect Dark → (N64, 2000)

A native port of the Nintendo 64 version for Windows and Linux, made by static recompilation: the game’s MIPS code is translated to C with N64Recomp and run natively on N64ModernRuntime, with RT64 as the renderer; it is not an emulator. Its symbols come from the Perfect Dark decompilation, and the repository also builds it as a web page. The README states that almost all of the code was written by AI agents (Claude), directed and play-tested by a person. The desktop build plays the mission dataDyne Central - Defection from briefing to end screen on Agent difficulty, with sound; the menus, the agent file, and saving work, and the game draws 59-60 frames a second in its levels. On Windows it draws through D3D12; on Linux under WSL2 the GPU was lost twice, so that build runs on the CPU only (lavapipe). The speech (MP3) hasn’t been checked, and clouds and water are drawn through a patch. Version 0.1.0 (October 23) provides Windows and Linux x86-64 builds without the ROM. 56 of its last 100 commits list Claude as a co-author.

You needYour own Perfect Dark (U) (V1.1) ROM, the second revision of the US release (NPDE, version 01), as a 32 MiB big-endian .z64 with MD5 e03b088b6ac9e0080440efed07c1e40f; other regions and revisions are not supported. Plus Windows (Direct3D 12) or x86-64 Linux with glibc 2.35 or newer, a Vulkan driver, GTK 3, and FreeType.
