Banjo-Tooie (some-scurvy-dog)
some-scurvy-dog/banjo-tooie-scurvy-dog-port
Scurvy Dog Port: an independent static recompilation of Banjo-Tooie for Windows, built with N64Recomp and N64ModernRuntime and rendered with RT64. It isn’t affiliated with the Banjo: Recompiled team. It’s in alpha: a launcher validates your ROM, but a full playthrough hasn’t been verified yet, and visual glitches and scene-transition pauses remain. There are no Linux or macOS builds yet.
You needYour own US 1.0 ROM in .z64 (big-endian) format, identified by its SHA-256. Other regions and modified ROMs aren’t supported.
Banjo-Tooie (Vidanox)
Vidanox/BanjoTooieRecompiled
A native PC port of the US Nintendo 64 version, made by static recompilation with N64Recomp and rendered with RT64: the MIPS code is translated to C once, and there is no emulator at runtime. It adds widescreen, high refresh rates, and an in-game settings menu. The README calls it playable end to end: it verifies boot, the attract loop, the intro cutscene, gameplay, repeated scene transitions, audio, controller input, overlay load and unload, and saving, all on Windows x64; the Linux build is newer. Version 1.0.1 (October 25) provides a Windows zip, a Linux tar.gz, and a Flatpak. The repository includes the C code generated from the ROM (about 85 MB, RecompiledFuncs folder).
You needYour own Banjo-Tooie (USA) ROM, which you choose with Select ROM in the launcher. Plus a GPU with Direct3D 12 (Shader Model 6) or Vulkan 1.2 and, on x86-64, an SSE4.1 CPU.
Banjo-Tooie (Xbox 360)
iron-jay/banjo_tooie_xbla_recomp
A native port of Banjo-Tooie that uses the Xbox 360 Xbox Live Arcade re-release as its source, made by statically recompiling its PowerPC code to C++ with the ReXGlue SDK. The result is a real Windows and Linux executable, with no emulator at runtime and no N64 ROM involved in the pipeline. According to the README it is playable end to end from boot: title screen, main menu, save select, the full intro cutscene, and free roaming, confirmed on Windows (with an NVIDIA GPU) and on a real Steam Deck, with controller, keyboard and mouse, and saving. It admits that the recompilation missed some of the game’s roughly 22,000 functions and that stability beyond the opening areas is lightly tested. It is distributed as a single launcher (Banjo-Tooie.exe on Windows, Banjo-Tooie on Linux) that extracts the data from your package; version 0.1.1 is from August 12. One of its 5 commits lists Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own Banjo-Tooie XBLA package (the STFS container you copy off your own Xbox 360 profile). The launcher checks the default.xex against the exact XBLA build it was tested with and refuses another region or revision. Windows or Linux, including the Steam Deck.
