Hotel Mario (tools81)
tools81/hotel-mario-static-recomp
An unofficial native port of Hotel Mario (Philips CD-i, 1994) for Windows, made by static recompilation. The game’s 68000 code is translated ahead of time into C and compiled with MSVC; a runtime of its own provides what the game expects from the console: the CD-RTOS (OS-9) kernel, the CD file manager, the MCD212 video decoder (shown through Direct3D 11 at any resolution), and the ADPCM audio processor. It starts from the CD-i recompilation template that came out of the Link: The Faces of Evil port. There are two executables, one with the original picture and one with the Cartoon HD upscalers and sprite interpolation switched on; both have quicksaves, run-ahead, and invincibility. According to the README, the intro, the title menu, the first level with music and sound effects, game over, and the attract-mode demo have been checked; the hotels after the first are unchecked because nobody has played that far. Version 1.0.2 was published on October 25. All 4 of its commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needYour own image of the Hotel Mario disc (USA), raw, as a .bin and .cue with 2352-byte sectors. The installer and the portable zip in the releases don’t include the disc and ask for it on first start. Plus Windows 10 or later; to build from source, Visual Studio 2022, CMake 3.19, and Python 3.8.
Hotel Mario (mstan)
mstan/HotelMarioRecomp
Hotel Mario (USA) for the Philips CD-i as a native program, on the cdirecomp static recompilation engine by the same author. The repository only holds the game’s build configuration, identity metadata, and acceptance tooling: it includes no CD-i BIOS, no disc data, no generated code, and no emulator forks. Its approach is to statically and natively recompile the whole system (the full CD-RTOS ROM is recompiled and runs as native C, with no OS-9 simulation) and boot the game on top of it, as on the hardware. The README calls it a research preview in very early development: the BIOS boots, the player opens the disc, the logo plays with decoded XA audio, and with normal-speed input Hotel 1 stages 1 to 3 were cleared, reaching stage 4. Full campaigns, bosses, the ending, and correct save restoration remain unverified, and some visual flickering remains. It has no releases on GitHub, although the README mentions v0.0.2 packages for Windows x64 and Linux x86_64. 3 of its 13 commits list Claude as a co-author.
You needTwo things from your own media: the 512 KiB CD-i player BIOS (cdi490a.rom) and a raw Mode-2 image of Hotel Mario (USA), as .cue and .bin (you select the .cue). The engine validates the exact identity of both; neither is included. To build it you need the cdirecomp repository next to this one.
