Built on the decompilation: Vagrant Story
Vagrant Story
Game: Vagrant Story → (PS1, 2000)
Vagrant Story Native: a native source port of the US release for x64 Windows, written in modern C++ from the rood-reverse decompilation, which is also in this catalog. It doesn’t emulate the PlayStation: the game logic is reorganized into its own C++ systems, with no BIOS, no emulated memory, and no MIPS code. An extractor converts every file on your disc up front into open formats (JSON, glTF, PNG, WAV, and AV1 video), and the game reads only that output. It’s at an early stage: it runs the original boot and title code, with the logos, intro movie, and music, and attract and early New Game scenes render, but interactive combat, rendering parity, full sound, and memory cards aren’t there yet.
You needA 1:1 dump of your own US Vagrant Story disc (SLUS-01040), as .bin and .cue. To build it, 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 with Visual Studio 2026 and its Clang toolset, Git, an internet connection the first time, and FFmpeg 6.0 or later to convert the movies.
