The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Game: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild → (Switch, 2017)
Savage Wind Recomp: a still-in-development static recompilation of Breath of the Wild (Switch, version 1.8.2) into a native application for Windows and Linux, built on LAS Recomp. The README states the project is made almost entirely with AI (Claude, through Claude Code), directed, tested, and reviewed by a human. On first launch it asks for your already-extracted game and recompiles the code on your machine, about 40 minutes on a 12-thread CPU. Alpha 2 (October 22, 2026, a pre-release with a Windows package only) plays the opening in the Shrine of Resurrection and the Great Plateau at 60 fps, with sound, voices, HUD, saving, keyboard and mouse, native resolution up to 4K or FSR 1, and 15 text and 8 voice languages; nobody has played past the Great Plateau, so bugs are expected. DLC isn’t supported yet. Changes under testing live on the “test” branch.
You needYour own copy of Breath of the Wild for Switch with the 1.8.2 update, extracted from your console: the ExeFS (main, main.npdm, rtld, sdk, subsdk0) and the RomFS with the update applied. No DLC. Windows 10 or later with an AVX2 CPU and a Vulkan 1.3 GPU, plus about 35 GB of free space; the README also mentions x86-64 Linux.
