About Recompendium

A community-run catalog of console games running natively on PC: static recompilations, decompilations, ports, mods, and the tools that make them possible. None of it is emulation: the game ends up running on your machine as a native program.

What’s in and what’s out

The catalog brings together five kinds of project: static recompilations (N64Recomp, XenonRecomp, ReXGlue…), ports and remakes built on a decompilation or made by fans (Ship of Harkinian, P-06…), the decompilations themselves, with source code rebuilt through reverse engineering, and the tools that make it all possible, plus mods: mods for those games, editors for building content, and managers that install them.

Emulators, FPGA cores, and any project that ships the game instead of asking for your own copy are left out. We cover those on the blog when they make the news, but they don’t join the catalog.

Recomp vs. decompilation

A recompilation translates the game’s binary into native code: the result is already an executable for your PC. A decompilation takes a different route: it rebuilds readable source code, usually until it compiles back into the exact original binary. Once it matures, native ports grow out of it. That’s why we list both, but separately: a recomp already produces an executable; a decompilation at 30% doesn’t yet. Each decompilation’s percentage is updated daily from decomp.dev.

A bit of history

The project that put the scene on the map was Zelda 64: Recompiled (Majora’s Mask), by Mr. Wiseguy, released in May 2024 on top of N64Recomp and with its own built-in launcher. From there, everything grew fast: the Xbox 360 wave with XenonRecomp, the first standalone universal launcher (N64RecompLauncher, August 2025), Banjo-Kazooie (January 2026), and ReXGlue (February 2026).
