Gen1Recomp

bryanthaboi/gen1recomp

A native Lua/LÖVE recreation of the first three generations of Pokémon: Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Despite the name, it no longer stops at the first generation. The engine and map behavior are hand-written; the game data and graphics are decoded from a ROM the player supplies. It’s a recreation, not a static recompilation. There are Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS builds, among others. Beware: the gen1recomp.com website isn’t the project’s, and its author asks people not to download anything from it.

Mod

PotatoVoxel

Nexhas28/potato_voxel

A Gen1Recomp mod that turns the first-generation Pokémon overworld into a 3D voxel diorama, with terrain depth, billboard characters, and shadows, while staying playable on handhelds, phones, and lower-powered computers. It has quality presets from HIGH to POTATO and a persistent terrain cache, so maps don’t have to be rebuilt on every visit. You install it from Gen1Recomp’s mod menu by importing the .zip for your version.

You needGen1Recomp, with your own game ROM.
